Hurricane season is hitting hard this year. Helene has already caused billions of dollars in damage, to say nothing of the cost of temporarily housing those who have lost everything. Helene made landfall on September 26th, and now we are responding to the much larger hurricane, Milton, which hit tore through Florida on Wednesday, October 9th.
With hurricane Milton coming on the heels of Helene, the damage has been exponential. Millions of Floridians have been without power or internet. Additionally, thousands have lost homes, cars and possessions. This includes many of LSF’s own staff.
LSF reaches 1 in every 50 Floridians through nearly 2,500 staff members. Because our staff members are struggling to recover from their own losses, they are unable to fully serve our communities. We need YOUR help to help our staff recover so that they can continue to bring help, hope, and healing to those in need.
Please donate what you are able to. As we recover from the storm, we need to support those who support so many. We are doing what we can to mitigate the level of damage right now through preventive efforts and fundraising. We need your support for temporary to long-term housing for children and families who have been forced to evacuate but continue to serve vulnerable families.
- A donation of $20 feeds a family for a day.
- A donation of $100 provides shelter for a family for a night.
- A donation of $1,000 helps a family begin to rebuild their life.
- Donate monthly in ANY amount to help us sustain the health and safety of Floridians during a long rebuild.
Donations can also be made to the Hurricane Helene Relief Fund by mail. Please make checks payable to “Lutheran Services Florida” with “Hurricane Relief” in the memo, and mail to:
