The goal of the PEPPI Head Start Child Development Center is to improve the quality of life for at-risk, pre-school children by providing comprehensive services to families in Belle Glade -- a poverty-stricken area populated largely by struggling, low-income families and migrant workers.

Every child in the Program learns basic educational skills in a clean and safe environment and receives a well-balanced breakfast, lunch, and a healthy mid-afternoon snack daily. Parents receive referrals to medical, dental, and mental health professionals.

A major emphasis in the program is contained in the acronym of the program name: PEPPI = Preschool Enrichment Program with Parental Involvement.  Therefore every parent is required to play an active role in the program including:

• Participating in School Activities

• Volunteering in the Classrooms

• Serving as Chaperones on School Field Trips

• Maintaining the School Building and Property

Since it began in 1982, thousands of children and their families in the Belle Glade area have benefited from the services provided by LSF's PEPPI Head Start Program.
