Mental Health Management
Proposal to DCF Covers an 11-County Area
Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) has been selected by the
Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to negotiate for a
$138 Million contract to become the Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Managing Entity (SAMHME) for 11 counties along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Art" Award Given to LSF
Youth by Florida Network
Max,
a 13-year-old teen in Lutheran Services Florida's counseling program in Ft.
Myers, has received a third place "Cool Art" Award in a statewide contest
sponsored last spring by the
Florida
Network of Youth and Family Services. He was one of 10 youth at
LSF's Oasis Youth Shelter who participated by preparing a drawing that
incorporated themes related to the
Safe Place program.

Joins with United Way for Children's Book Drive
Third Year for Central Services Participation
Lutheran Services Florida's Central Services staff has joined forces
with United Way of Tampa Bay for the 2009 Children's Book Drive, the
third year that LSF has participated in the annual drive. The goal
of the book drive is to put books into the hands of low-income children
in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.

Board Honors Outgoing Head
of Lutheran Immigration Service
The
Board of Directors of Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) has presented a
Certificate of Appreciation and a desk plaque to the outgoing President of
Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), Ralston Deffenbaugh, Jr.,
"for his outstanding service to refugee and immigrant families, the staff of
LIRS, and the Lutheran Church."

Your Calendars: LSF Sunday Is November 8
Lutheran
Services Florida will celebrate LSF Sunday on November 8 this year, and
subsequently on the second Sunday of November each year in Lutheran churches
across Florida. The date has been coordinated with the Florida-Georgia
District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the Florida-Bahamas Synod
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
