LSF's CINS/FINS Program Gets Exceptional Rating

From Florida Department of Juvenile Justice

Lutheran Services Florida's program for Children in Need of Services/Families in Need of Services (CINS/FINS) in Fort Myers has received an "exceptional rating" from the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).  The rating recognizes the LSF program for exceeding the department's quality assurance standards.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Ft. Myers Collectors Donate Over 750,000

Sports Cards to LSF Foster Care Children

Several sports cards collectors in the Fort Myers area have donated their collections to Lutheran Services Florida to distribute to children at Christmas who are in foster care in Lee and Charlotte County.  One collector, Bill Tackett, who was himself in foster care as a child, gave over 750,000 cards.  Click here to read the story that appeared in the Ft. Samaritan Dinner in Orlando

The third annual Good Samaritan Dinner in Orlando was held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Sun., Mar.  1.  At the dinner, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) bestowed the Good Samaritan Award upon 12 individuals.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Former Lost Boy of Sudan Becomes US Citizen in Tampa

Mogtaba Maki, 27, a former Lost Boy of Sudan, was sworn in with 53 others as a U.S. citizen on Thu., Mar. 12 at a ceremony held in Tampa.  Maki fled his home in terror 10 years ago during his former country's civil war and was resettled by Lutheran Services Florida in Tampa Bay.  Click here to read an article on his journey and that of his family in a story from the St. Petersburg Times.

 

 

Miami HUD Office Warns of Web Scam
Related to Recovery

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) received an email "Consumer Alert" notification on Fri., Mar. 13 from the Miami Field Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) stating that "a deceptive website out there that is posing as HUD."  Click here to read the story.

 

 

LSF Loses Child Welfare Bid, But Raises Profile in State

CEO Reflects on Blessings of Competitive Process

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) lost last week in the competitive bidding to become the Lead Community Based Agency for Child Welfare in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, but raised the agency's profile in a significant way in the state of Florida through the bidding and negotiations process, according to LSF President and CEO Samuel Sipes.  Click here to read the story.
