Village
on the Isle, a Lutheran retirement center in Venice, Florida, has donated
two desks and chairs and a new copier with scan capabilities to the
Guardianship program operated by Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) in Venice.
The two Lutheran agencies are also developing an agreement for emergency
assistance of LSF's residents at Village on the Isle in the event of a
hurricane or other disaster.

Assistance Services in
Pasco Holds First Open House
Approximately 28 people attended an open house sponsored by LSF
Integration Assistance Services (IAS) in Pasco County on Thu., Feb. 26
from 5-7 p.m. Attendees included current and former clients, other
service providers, community supporters, program volunteers and interns
and staff.
Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) has received the highest score from the
Florida Department of Children and Families of two proposals submitted
to become the Community-Based Care (CBC) Lead Agency for child welfare
services in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Click here to read the story.

2008
Annual Report Published by LSF
The Annual Report for 2008 for Lutheran Services Florida was published
in February. Under the title, "A Rock Called Ebenezer," the report
details the programs and people served, which include some 33,304
individuals who have found LSF to be their Ebenzer - rock of
faithfulness.

Wife
of Former Sudanese Refugee Passes Away in Pasco
Khadiga Ibrahim, the 36-year-old wife of
former Sudanese refugee Ibrahim Yagoub,
passed away unexpectedly on Fri., Feb. 6 at Community Hospital in New Port
Richey after a lengthy and undiagnosed illness. She was buried in Hillsborough County. The plight of the Yagoub family
was featured on the website of LSF and in
the St. Petersburg Times describing Yagoub's job loss, foreclosure of their home and
the hospitalization of Khadiga at Tampa General just before Christmas with
an unknown disease that caused severe swelling in her face and limbs, pain
and inability to eat.
