On Aug. 24, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced:
"The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made
available for Florida to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area
struck by Tropical Storm Fay beginning on August 18, 2008, and continuing.

As of Oct. 16,
designated counties for FEMA funding included 41 of Florida's 67 counties
for Public Assistance and 28 counties for Individual Assistance.

On. Oct. 15, Florida Governor Charlie Crist issued an Executive Order
extending the state of emergency for an additional 60 days, until Dec. 16, "to
ensure the continuation of statewide activities ... to recover from Tropical
Storm Fay."
